At Alleyn’s Hampstead Nursery & Junior School, our wide-ranging co-curricular programme gives children the opportunity to try new things, develop new skills, explore personal interests and, most importantly, enjoy their time at school. These experiences support learning beyond the classroom and play a central role in developing character, building confidence and nurturing wellbeing.
We want every child to feel that fun and discovery can be found in many forms — not to be defined by whether they are ‘sporty’ or ‘creative’, but to feel encouraged to explore without limits. That’s why we’ve created All In — our bespoke co-curricular programme designed to support every child’s personal development and open doors to discovery as they ‘find their thing’. It’s an integral part of life at Alleyn’s Hampstead.
The All In programme includes an exciting variety of clubs and activities, running during and after the school day, and is complemented by sports teams, trips, residentials, performances, visiting speakers and whole-school events. Children also take part in charitable initiatives and pupil-led committees that shape aspects of school life, promoting leadership, collaboration and social responsibility.
Clubs
Our co-curricular clubs offer something for every child – encouraging exploration, confidence and joy in learning beyond the classroom. From drama and dance to gardening, construction and art, pupils are invited to discover new interests or deepen existing ones in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Clubs are carefully curated and evolve each term, with choices tailored to children’s stages and interests as they move through the school. For our youngest learners, popular options include Lego, storytelling, construction, role play, and nature-based activities such as gardening. As they grow, pupils can explore clubs in cookery, Italian, ukulele, and other enriching experiences.
Creative expression features prominently, with children enjoying opportunities to explore dance, drama and the visual arts. For those with a passion for language, music or movement, we offer additional experiences such as LAMDA and performance opportunities throughout the year.
We vary our timetable termly and welcome suggestions from children and parents alike – ensuring the programme remains fresh, relevant and inspiring. Most clubs run before or after school or during lunch breaks. While the majority are included within school provision, certain specialist clubs (such as one-to-one music lessons) may carry a small fee. We ask children to commit to their chosen clubs each term, helping to develop responsibility and routine.
Trips and Visits
At Alleyn’s Hampstead Nursery & Junior School, we believe that learning is most powerful when it feels real, relevant and rooted in the world around us. Our programme of trips and visits is designed to extend and enrich classroom learning, while nurturing pupils’ curiosity, confidence and cultural awareness.
Located in the heart of Hampstead, we are ideally placed to explore a wealth of local green spaces and cultural institutions. Pupils enjoy regular visits to places such as Golders Hill Park, the Science Museum, the London Canal Museum and the Postal Museum – each experience offering new perspectives and hands-on opportunities to deepen understanding.
These carefully planned outings are closely linked to the curriculum and bring learning to life in meaningful ways. Whether exploring a museum exhibit, asking questions of an expert, or simply observing nature up close, children return to the classroom with new ideas, fresh insights and a growing sense of the world beyond school.
We also celebrate a wide range of cultural festivals and themed events throughout the year – including Black History Month, Carnival, and Philosophy Week. These experiences are an integral part of developing our pupils’ cultural capital and encouraging a global perspective within our diverse and inclusive school community.
Through every trip and celebration, our aim is simple: to help children connect what they learn to who they are and who they are becoming.
