Pastoral Care

Many members of staff – including teachers, office staff, and our wraparound care team – hold first aid qualifications. Children who feel unwell or require treatment are quickly assessed and taken to the medical section in The Well, where they can rest in a calm and quiet space if needed.

We believe that meaningful responsibilities help children develop leadership skills, self-confidence, and a sense of accountability. From caring for their classroom environment to representing their peers, pupils are encouraged to take an active role in school life. As they move through the school, these responsibilities grow – helping to build empathy, resilience and an awareness of how their actions impact others.

We provide additional wellbeing support for pupils who need it and our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) work in close partnership to support children’s emotional wellbeing, mental health and any specific learning needs. This integrated model ensures that pupils feel understood, supported and able to thrive – enabling them to flourish both in the classroom and beyond.

Assemblies are an important part of school life – a space for coming together, sharing achievements, learning about current issues and reinforcing key values such as kindness, inclusivity and responsibility. We also use assemblies to mark key awareness days, celebrate festivals, welcome guest speakers, and support charity initiatives – helping pupils connect their learning with the wider world and develop a strong moral compass.
