Welcome from the Head

I feel incredibly privileged to lead this vibrant and nurturing community – a school with a clear sense of purpose, joy, and curiosity at its core. This is my fourth headship, having previously led Francis Holland Junior School in Sloane Square, St Hilda’s Preparatory School, Bluebird Nursery School in Bushey, and North London Collegiate Junior School.

We are a school, a place where every child is valued, every voice is heard, and every journey is celebrated.

From Nursery through to Year 6, we are proud to be a school that doesn’t just teach, but truly understands. We believe that education is not one-size-fits-all, and our approach reflects that. Every child is unique, and so is the way we support them—academically, socially, and emotionally. At the core of our ethos is a deep commitment to knowing each child as an individual and helping them to know themselves.

What I value most about Alleyn’s Hampstead is its wholehearted belief in children – in their ability to flourish when they are seen, heard, and truly known. It’s a school where every child is instilled with an ‘I can’, ‘I am’ attitude – growing into their own sense of self with confidence, kindness, and resilience. We honour the traditional 3R’s but inculcate our own Risk Taking, Resourcefulness and Resilience attributes to support the children navigate their world and their futures.

We take a holistic, child-centred approach to education, developing the whole child through a rich and varied curriculum, delivered by passionate and skilled educators. From their first days in Nursery to their final days in Year 6, pupils benefit from hands-on, active learning that is brought to life through immersive experiences and inspiring spaces – both inside and outside the classroom.

Our mixed-ability cohort is something we celebrate. Through expert teaching, careful observation, and meaningful challenge, we tailor learning to meet each child where they are – helping them stretch their thinking, deepen their understanding, and take pride in their progress.

What truly sets us apart is our strong sense of community. We know our children, we know our families, and we build relationships rooted in trust, mutual respect, and shared values. Whether through Forest School adventures, after-school clubs, performances, parent coffee mornings or Sports Days, the spirit of connection and celebration is always present.

Our desire is that our pupils leave us with more than excellent academic results—we want them to leave with a strong sense of self, a clear understanding of what matters to them, and the confidence to shape their own future. To help them on that journey, we use our ROCCK values: Respect, Opportunity, Courage, Curiosity, and Kindness. These values are not just words on a wall—they underpin everything we do, every day.

  • Respect teaches our children to value themselves and others, to listen, and to celebrate difference.
  • Opportunity ensures that every child has the chance to discover new interests, develop new skills, and unlock their potential.
  • Courage gives them the confidence to take risks, speak up, and grow from their mistakes.
  • Curiosity drives their learning—encouraging them to ask questions, think deeply, and explore the world around them.
  • And Kindness reminds us all to act with empathy, compassion, and care in everything we do.

Through these values, we create a culture where every child feels safe to be themselves and inspired to become their best self. Whether they are discovering a love of learning, developing a creative talent, or finding joy in teamwork, we help them identify their passions and give them the tools to pursue them with confidence.

They leave us with strong foundations, not just in learning, but in character.

We are proud of the children who pass through our school, and even prouder of the young people they become.

I am delighted to welcome you to Alleyn’s Hampstead Nursery & Junior School – a place where children are known, inspired, and encouraged to be All They Can Be.
